Registered Nurse

Night Shift; 7PM-7AM
Job Description: Registered Nurse

Responsible to:

  1. Chief Nurse Officer
  2. Administrator
    1. Doctors
    2. Board of Trustees

Requirements:

  •  Must have current active license by Oklahoma Board of Nurse   Registration of Education
  •  Must be in good physical condition and able to assist in caring for and lifting patients whenever necessary

Duties:

  • Adherence to policies of hospital.
  • Carrying out of doctors’ orders accurately and promptly.
  • Responsible for floor while on duty.
  • Supervision of workers assignments in writing.
  • Narcotic check at beginning and end of shift.
  • Pouring and administering medications.
  • Starting IV’s when ordered.
  • Documenting accurately information, medication and observations in EPIC/EMR.
  • Acknowledging orders of doctors in EPIC/EMR and properly transcribing medications and initiation of medication or treatment.
  • Keeping and adequate supply of medicines available.
  • Keeping doctors notified of changes in patient condition.
  • Regular attendance at nurse’s meetings.
  • Available for duty in case of disaster.
  • Initiate and keep current a nursing care plan for each patient.
  • Supervise women in labor.
  • Assist in delivery room.
  • Responsible for patients who come to emergency room on shift.
  • Attend scheduled inservice education meetings.
  • Provide inservice when requested.
  • Perform as assistant in operating room or circulating nurse when qualified and required.
  • Take all verbal orders and telephone and put into EPIC/EMR.
  • SQSS at the Beginning and End of each shift.
  • Performs all other job duties as assigned.
  • Attends all EPIC/EMR training.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Mostly inside work w/ good ventilation and comfortable temperature.
  • Requires mostly standing and walking and approximately 20% sitting.
  • Physical demands are very heavy, requiring heavy frequent lifting and carrying in excess of 75-100 lbs., frequent pushing and pulling, stooping, kneeling, etc.

HAZARDS:

  • Exposure to toxic/caustic chemicals and detergents.
  • Exposure to potential electric shock.
  • Exposure to x-ray/electromagnetic energy.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases.
  • Exposure to blood-borne pathogens.

  • Handle multiple priorities.
  • Make decisions under pressure.
  • Work alone.
  • Manage anger, fear, hostility and violence of others.
  • Work in areas that are confined and/or crowded.

AGE OF PATIENTS SERVED:

  • All ages are served at Fairview Municipal Hospital including:

Neonate/Infant –      Birth – 1 year

Child/Pediatric –        1 – 11 years

Adolescent –              12 – 17 years

Adult –                         18 – 64 years

Geriatric –                  65 years +v
