Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • One-year related experience in healthcare field preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of collection laws, insurance and government programs and hospital billing preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology extremely helpful.
  • Basic knowledge ofaccounting and bookkeeping principles.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and automated accounting systems.
  • Problem solving and negotiating skills.
  • Ability to determine appropriate course of action in more complex situations.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise creativity, be attentive to detail, and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize scheduling of work.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all medical, financial, and legal information.
  • Ability to complete work assignments accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to handle difficult situations involving patients, physicians, or others in a professional manner.

 Physical Requirements

       This work is sedentary and requires the following physical activities:

  • Sitting for long periods of time; occasional bending; squatting; kneeling; stooping; frequent repetitive motions; talking; hearing and visual acuity
  • Frequent lifting (up to 15 pounds of paper supplies or minor office equipment)
  1. Duties:

 Job Summary

This position is responsible for the daily operation of the switchboard. Responsible for preparation of the daily deposit, distribution of mail, scanning, accepting patient payments, and providing backup for Registration Clerk.

             Essential Functions

  • Promote the mission, vision, and values of FRMC.
  • Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner to reflect the highest integrity of the Business Office.
  • Completes work assignments in a timely manner.
  • Assists visitors with directions whenever requested.
  • Always introduces self to patients, families, and visitors.
  • Follows all infection control practices including hand washing techniques, Standard Precautions, and isolation precautions.
  • Maintains set quality standards when performing job duties.
  • Ability to do work on his/her own with normal supervision.
  • Always observes safety precautions.
  • Cooperate with other personnel to achieve departmental objectives, maintain good employee relations and interdepartmental objectives.
  • Work on KPI’s (QI) with department personnel.
  • Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, training’s, current literature, in service meetings and workshops; shows responsibility for own professional practice and ongoing education.
  • Answers switchboard in a professional manner as quickly as possible and transfers calls to the correct extension.
  • Uses overhead paging system.
  • Takes thorough messages and relays them to the appropriate person as soon as possible when necessary.
  • Opens mail and distributes to correct department mailboxes.
  • Prepares cash, checks, remittances, and credit card information for posting clerk, including making copies of all receipts and funds paid to the hospital.
  • Enters daily information on deposit spreadsheet.
  • Verifies cash drawer balance at beginning of day.
  • Responsible for scanning daily packets into P drive and registration information into EPIC when necessary.
  • Prepares employee payroll deductions.
  • Check SQSS and email daily.
  • Cross trains in all areas of the Business Office.

Non-Essential Functions
